From a protocol PDF to a day that runs itself

Copy the text out of the document, paste it once, check what was read. Here is each step on a phone, and exactly what is taken from each line.

Copy the text, not the file

Tratto reads text you paste. It does not open PDFs and cannot read a scanned image. On most phones the document opens in a viewer that lets you select text:

iPhone

  1. Open the PDF in Files, Mail or Safari.
  2. Press and hold on a word, then drag the handles across the schedule. If a Select All option appears in the menu, use it.
  3. Tap Copy. In a long document selection may stop at the end of the page; copy and paste one page at a time, and Tratto reads each paste as more steps.
  4. Open Tratto, accept the notice on first open, tap Paste your protocol, press and hold in the box, then Paste.

Android

  1. Open the PDF and try a long-press on a word. If handles appear, drag them across the schedule and tap Copy.
  2. If nothing selects, the viewer is showing pictures of the pages. In Drive, tap the three dots, then Open with → Google Docs: it converts the file to text you can select.
  3. Open Tratto, accept the notice on first open, tap Paste your protocol, long-press in the box, then Paste.

If nothing can be selected anywhere, the PDF really is a picture of a page. Point your camera app or Google Lens at it and copy the text it lifts, or ask whoever sent it for the text version.

What it reads from each line

In your textWhat Tratto takes from it
A clock time: 07:20, 7.20am, “mid-morning”, “bedtime”The step’s time. Time words are read as the times they usually mean; change any of them on the confirm screen.
“On waking”, “30 minutes after getting up”A step counted from when you got up, so it moves with your wake time.
An amount in brackets or with a unit: (2 tsp), 1 drop, 4 capsulesKept as the amount, marked as coming from your document. Tratto never fills one in.
“Wait 30–60 min”, “two hours clear”A hold-off after that step, at the length your document states.
Nothing about waiting, on a step Tratto reads as a binderTwo hours of hold-off, assumed, labelled as Tratto’s assumption rather than your document, and changeable on the confirm screen.
A row from a table: number, time, name, description, portionName from the column after the time, amount from the last column when it reads like one, the description kept as the step’s note.
Headings, numbering, blank linesIgnored.

Check it before it is saved

Nothing is committed on paste. You get a confirm screen with every step, its time, its amount and where each came from. A step the document gave no time is highlighted and has to be given one before the day is built. Change anything there; the document’s own words for each row stay attached as a note.

From then on the day is laid out for you: your steps in order, counted from when you got up where the document says so, timed around your meals, with the hold-offs kept. How hold-offs move the rest of the day · What moves when you sleep in.

Tratto schedules and records. It never suggests a dose, a duration or an escalation, never names a condition, and never interprets a symptom; every amount comes from your own document or your own log. It is not a medical device and not medical advice. Supplements can cause harm and can interact with prescription medication: talk to a doctor or pharmacist before starting or changing a protocol. If a symptom is severe or worsening, stop and get medical care. For the protocol itself, ask the person who gave it to you.
